Membership Requirements
MD/DO
Allied Health Professional
Our membership period is January 1- December 31.
I. MD/DO MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY
Membership eligibility applies to orthopaedic surgeons who are:
1. Licensed as a Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) to practice in the state in which they work (or are licensed to do the same in a Federal Hospital), AND
2. Who have successfully completed an accredited orthopaedic training program AND
3. Have staff privileges for orthopaedic surgery, in a local hospital, at the time of application. Geographic requirements are the 14 western states of the United States (Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming) for Active members and provinces of Canada and states of Mexico that are contiguous to the territory of the WOA for International members.
II. ACTIVE MEMBERS
In addition to the requirements set forth under "Membership Eligibility," applicants for active membership must have their major office or practice within the geographical area of the Association.
III. INTERNATIONAL MEMBERS
Applicants must fulfill the requirements set forth in Section 2.
IV. PROCEDURES
1. Each applicant must be sponsored by one voting member of the Association.

3. The applicant will be notified of the Action of the Association after the next Board of Directors Meeting.

I. ALLIED HEALTH PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS
Membership eligibility applies to allied health professionals who:
1. Graduate from a recognized and accredited professional school with certification as Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Doctor of Medicine, or Doctor of Osteopathy.
2. Hold current licensure in a state within the geographic area of the WOA or the contiguous states of Mexico and provinces of Canada and be practicing in the same area.
3. Practice profile is exclusively (100%) musculo-skeletal.
4. Applicant for membership must be sponsored by a physician member of the WOA.
5. Successful applicants will pay dues in the amount of $150.00. Allied Health Professional Members will be non-voting members and ineligible to hold office, but may be appointed to a committee, in an ex-officio capacity, at the discretion of the WOA Board of Directors.
II. ACTIVE MEMBERS
